Things to do

Provence offers a myriad of things to do and see.

Rock-climbing:
The best rock-climbing is at Buoux, a mere 8kms away. Devotees come from all part of the world to hang from thin ropes off very high and scary cliffs.

Horse-riding:
Saignon is in horse country. There are many good riding schools available that offer lessons or rides through the forests.

Kayaking/Canoeing:
The Gorges du Verdun offers a world-renowned kayak adventure. Not for the faint hearted. Easier but still breathtakingly beautiful, is a canoe down the Sorge River ending up outside the exquisite village of L'Isle-sur-Sorge.

Hiking:
Some of the best walking routes are around Saignon and the neighbouring villages. The Tourist Office in Apt is able to give you information about guides, walks and maps.The GR9 (Grande Randonnee)passes through the center of Apt. You will be able to discover tracks through the country out to St Saturnin les Apt or through the wild countryside of the Claparedes to the valley of Aiguebrun to the Fort at Buoux, ending up walking through La Foret des Cedres onto the picturesque village of Bonnieux. The choice is yours!

Cycling:
There are many cycle shops in Apt who are able to rent out bikes and equipment needed for a great day out in the country.

Golf:
There is a golf course near L'Isle-sur-Sorge which is a 30 minute drive.

Swimming pools:
Apt has 2 outdoor pools. Open July and August only.
